Course
Description

Preparing a monologue for an audition or performance can be daunting.  Choosing the right monologue to audition with can seem just as complicated.  Throughout this course you will explore how to find the right monologues, break them down into manageable parts, create characters, tell a story, deal with nerves, and feel more confident with your abilities in auditions, rehearsals, and performances.   Students will work in a masterclass setting to learn from their own experience and by watching others work.   By the end of the course, students should have tools necessary to deliver a monologue that showcases their talent and individuality.   This course is appropriate for brand new actors as well as experienced performers.

Instructor

The Monologue Workshop will be taught by Upstage Players Managing Artistic Director Andrew Lidestri.  Andrew earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Rhode Island Theatre Program.  After living and working in theatre in Los Angeles and New York City, Andrew relocated to the North Country and has spent the last 8 years as Upstage’s Artistic director.  He has worked to develop a welcoming and accessible program for community members to create quality theatre in a community environment that feels like a professional setting.  He is excited to bring a new theatrical experience to the local community here in the North Country.
