Theatre UP Board of Directors

President - Courtney Vashaw
Courtney Vashaw joined the UP family in 2016, and the Board of Directors shortly thereafter. Courtney has been involved in both theatre and community development for the better part of her life. She spent 16 years as an educator and administrator in local schools, has served on numerous non-profit boards, and worked on countless projects for the betterment of the North Country. She lives in Whitefield with her family (who are also part of the UP family!), where she serves as the director of the Whitefield Public Library.

Vice President - Jennifer Donovan
Jen Donovan is the owner of The Purple Peacock in Littleton, NH. In addition to often being onstage - you may have seen her as the dragoon in "Shrek" or perhaps Yente in "Fiddler on the Roof" - she serves as the Properties Master for all shows produced by Theatre UP. She loves creating and making and is thrilled to have found a company that feels like a family, with the crazy uncle and all.

Treasurer - Amy Mullins
Amy has been involved with Theatre UP since 2018 when her oldest daughter, Annabelle, performed in "Shrek." She joined the board shortly after and is the current treasurer. She is a pediatric physical therapist and works in early intervention. She lives in Franconia with her family and has been involved in multiple shows as a parent, volunteer, and even tap dancer.

Secretary - Connor MacDonald
Connor first joined Theatre UP in 2014, drawn to the accessible professional atmosphere it offered an actor. Over the years, he has taken on multiple roles within the organization and currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors, a member of the Executive and Membership Committees, and supports the group with its IT and technical needs. As an IT professional based in New Hampshire and Vermont, Connor specializes in technical problem-solving and managing Google-based infrastructures. He works as a Level 2 IT Technician with expertise in JAMF, MacBook and iPad management, and streamlining digital workspaces. His contributions to Theatre UP have helped enhance efficiency and improve its digital infrastructure. Theatre UP provided a sense of family during a time when he felt he no longer had one of his own, becoming a cornerstone of personal and professional growth. Outside of theatre and IT, he’s an avid board gamer who loves bringing people together around a table. He also enjoys sledding with his huskies alongside his good friend Garret Moore. At home, he cherishes time with his wonderfully supportive wife, Monica, and his son, Atlas, who has turned life upside down in the best possible way.

Director - Tim Connolly
Tim Connolly moved to the North Country in the fall of 2007. He resides in Bethlehem with his spouse and dogs. He enjoys walks in the woods, gardening, and spending time with family. He is a banker who is involved with four non-profits in the area. He became involved with Theatre UP early in 2024.

Director - Jess Griffiths
Jess Griffiths joined Theatre UP in 2015 for "Rumors" and has been hooked ever since. She joined the board in 2016 and served as Treasurer for a number of years. Jess has three kids, is a founder of Woodland Community School on Meadowstone Farm (owned by her husband, Tim), and owns 23 Ammonoosuc in Littleton. She believes in supporting Theatre UP because she has seen and experienced first hand the incredible difference it has made for so many in our community.

Ed King has served on the Theatre UP Board since 2020. He has lived in the area since 1987 and has been a big supporter of Community Theatre for decades. Ed's paying job is as General Manager of the Littleton Food Coop, and he currently serves on the Grafton Region Development Corp Board and a National Food Coop Advisory Board. He has 4 adult children and 5 of the cutest grandkids on the planet.

Janne joined the board of Theatre UP in the summer of 2024. After a career in advertising and promotion, she and her husband, George, retired to Littleton. Janne and George volunteered in the Main Street Program and many of the Chamber of Commerce events over the years. Janne started the Littleton Farmer’s Market and chaired the committee to institute the Friends of
the Littleton Library.

Director - George Mitchell

Director - Madalyn Sheehy
Madalyn (she/her) is a Director/Choreographer/Performer who has dedicated their life to theater and the power it holds to bring positivity and change. Madalyn studied dance and acting at the Hartt School of Music and Southern Connecticut State University. Over the past 20 years, she has worked at various theaters throughout New York, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. As a Youth Theater Director & Choreographer, she believes in being an ally to every student's journey on stage, no matter what their level. The goal is simple - to be able to say “I did it!”

Director - Kathe Tortorice
- Kathe is the first person to graduate from Babson College with an MBA and BS in 4 years, with a degree in Finance & Economics. She worked at Digital Equipment for 20 years as a US Manufacturing Strategic Planning Manager, Program Manager for AI projects, and Quality Manager, designing and implementing a cross plant QA system. She is the co-owner of Building Alternatives, overseeing contracts, budgets, schedules, the design process & SOW. Kathe's volunteer positions include serving on the school board in Chester NH for 8 years, where she helped plan, sell to the town, and assist in building the new school. She also served on the Boys & Girls Club of the North Country for 15 years as Facilities and Safety Committee leader and the Resource Development Committee leader.
