Audition Information for "La Cage Aux Folles"
The Story: After twenty years of un-wedded bliss Georges and Albin, two men partnered for better-or-worse get a bit of both when Georges’ son announces his impending marriage to the daughter of a bigoted, right-wing politician. Further complicating the situation is the ‘family business’ - Albin and Georges run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez, where Albin is the “star” performer Zaza. Georges reluctantly agrees to masquerade as “normal” when he meets the family of the bride-to-be. But Albin has other plans, with hilarious results.
What we’re looking for: This fun musical has opportunities for a huge variety of talented performers. The main cast roles require singing and acting, and there will be an ensemble of townspeople with smaller parts and some singing. Additionally, we hope to cast a great dancing chorus of “cagelles” played by both men and women for the night club scenes. There is some musical theatre dance and one tap section for the “cagelles” to do. This chorus will all be dressed in some version of drag. We will be casting high school through adult ages. All roles are open except Albin/ZaZa. Full character breakdown is available here.
