Intro to Playwriting seeks to enlighten students to the fundamentals of playwriting through analysis of classic plays as well as implement this learning through writing original works and in-class feedback from a published playwright as well as their peers. Special attention will be given to the genre of the 10-minute Play. Students will feel empowered to tell the kinds of stories that they want to tell. The class will meet weekly on Tuesdays at 4PM for 90 minutes and is aimed at both teens and adults (Ages 14 and up). Though students are free to write musicals if they want, they should be aware that the process of writing a musical versus a play are very different and this class will not be exploring that process in an adequate depth.
