Dance for Musical Theater focuses on a variety of styles from popular Broadway shows throughout the years and is perfect for those who are new to dance or interested in developing their dance skills for performing in musical theater. Classes will begin with a center warm up (including stretches, isolations, and core strengthening) followed by floor work and choreography. The class will work on developing technique, increasing strength, flexibility, and endurance, and learning basic dance vocabulary, as well as touching on the history of dance and musical theater.
Each class will begin the same with a warm up (center stretches, etc.) and then move on to floor work (basic steps, small combos) and end with a little choreography from a different musical. Songs/choreography pulled will depend on class (who is in class, how fast they pick up the steps – will follow what they need to learn and will advance as the class advances.) Will structure movements as needed, with scaffolding for beginner or more advanced students. |
