Andrew Lidestri

Founding Artistic Director / Academy Instructor

Andrew has been making theatre with UP since 2012 when he was asked to appear in a production of 1776. Since then, he has become the organization’s first Artistic Director and has gone on to redevelop UP into an award winning arts organization that reaches thousands of local and visiting patrons each year. Andrew directs the majority of Up’s productions each season and enjoys picking a variety of plays and musicals to bring a varied slice of the world of theatre to our community.

When he can, Andrew also enjoys creating characters as an actor as well. He was most recently seen on the UP stage as Albin in La Cage aux Folles and as Giuseppe Zangara in Assassins. He has also recently collaborated with M&D productions in North Conway to portray Arnold in Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song Trilogy for which he won a NH Theatre award for Outstanding performance by a leading actor in a play.
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island Theatre Program, some favorite previous roles include Leading Player (Pippin), Perchick (Fiddler on the Roof), Tinman & Lion (The Wiz), Adolpho (The Drowsy Chaperone), Rev. Parris (The Crucible), Donkey (Shrek) among others. He has been privileged to work in theatre in both Los Angeles and New York City before relocating to the North Country. For more than a decade, Andrew has worked to develop a welcoming and accessible program for community members to create quality theatre in a community environment that feels like a professional setting. He is excited to bring a new theatrical experience to the community in the North Country. He hopes the community will come, be entertained, and return over & over to support the arts.
